Saratoga and Cupertino wineries are within a half-hour's drive of downtown San Jose, and offer a chance to get out into the country without a long drive. Winery experiences here range from VIP Vineyard tours, to sit-down tastings with a Sommelier, to picnics with a view. Saratoga is also home to some nice restaurants, in case you want to stop for dinner after your tour.
Picchetti Winery Tasting Room
Take a hike at Picchetti
Big Basin Vineyards: Visit their Tasting Room in downtown Saratoga for a tasting of wonderful wines, hosted by a knowledgable staff member. Small groups only.
Cinnabar Vineyards and Winery - delicious, award-winning wines in a wine lounge Tasting Room in downtown Saratoga. Cinnabar is known for producing a wide variety of great wines, such as their Mercury Rising red blend. Small front patio for music on weekends and picnics
Cooper-Garrod Estate Vineyards - The Coopers and the Garrods are two of the pioneer families in Saratoga. The 28-acre estate winery specializes in Chardonnay, Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Viognier, and yes, you can ride horses here, too! (just not into the Tasting Room)
Note: no pets allowed on property
House Family Vineyards - a small winery in Saratoga, open weekends and also by appointment. Pets on leashes, children and picnics welcome
Picchetti Winery - Originally founded as a family winery in the late 1800's, Picchetti has a large picnic area, hiking trails, and a big brown barn Tasting Room where you can sample the current releases
R & W Vineyards - A small-production winery, with no official Tasting Room, the owners host small groups at their private home. R & W Vineyards makes Cabernet Sauvignon from estate grapes, as well as some Cab from Napa, and a Spring Mtn Syrah. An intimate venue best for groups of 12 or fewer
Ridge Vineyards - One of our nation's top-rated producers of Cabernet and Zinfandel, visit their Tasting Room high atop Montebello Road, about a mile below the actual winery. (winery closed to the public, so all tastings are in a Tasting Room, which was once a house) Small picnic area available
Savannah-Chanelle Vineyards - Sits on 58 charming and peaceful acres in the hills of Saratoga, where winemaker Tony Craig makes award-winning wines, including several Pinot Noirs and an old-vine Zin. We love their VIP vineyard tour! Note: no pets allowed on property
The Mountain Winery - Originally Paul Masson's winery, this property was selected for the perfect soils and beautiful views, and they now grow both Chardonnay & Pinot Noir on the estate, in addition to the other wines they make. Come enjoy a tasting perched on a little piece of heaven, and enjoy looking out over the Santa Clara Valley (aka Silicon Valley) Note: no children allowed in tasting areas
